CIMIC Group subsidiary UGL has secured more than $200 million in various energy and resource contracts in Western Australia.

CIMIC announced three new contracts and extensions on two existing contracts, all of which are set to begin in late 2022.

UGL has secured a three-year contract with Santos for delivery of electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and cranage services on various onshore and offshore gas assets.

BHP Iron Ore awarded UGL a three-year contract to provide electrical, instrumentation, structural, mechanical and piping works across various iron ore mines and ports.

A five-year contract for UGL was announced with mining giant Alcoa, which would deliver specialist turbine services including electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and insulation.

The scope of work will also include cladding services for turbine outages.

Alcoa has additionally awarded UGL with an extension on an existing contract to provide electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and access services on alumina refineries.

UGL’s wholly owned specialist provider, IAS Group, was engaged in a contract extension with Woodside Energy to provide asset preservation services on the Pyrenees offshore vessel and the onshore Macedon Gas Plant.

“Providing services for critical energy assets across Australia keeps our communities and industries going,” CIMIC executive chairman Juan Santamaria said.

“By consistently providing experience, tailored solutions and flexibility, we are proud to be considered a trusted partner for these long-term clients.”

UGL managing director Doug Moss said UGL had been a crucial part of the WA economy for decades.

“From providing support to the leading producers of resources and energy, to the local manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock assets and Navy vessels," he said.

“We’re delighted to be able to continue providing local opportunities for our people and expertise to our clients through these contract awards.”
