Engineering firm Transfield Services has won $100 million in new work with Pilbara’s iron ore giants.

Transfield said today it had signed a one-year contract worth $65 million with Rio Tinto to design and construct a fuel storage terminal in Dampier.

The company was also awarded a $35 million, one-year contract to design and build a diesel storage facility at Fortescue Metals Group's Solomon mine project.

“These contracts deliver on our strategy to provide higher value front-end services to the resources and energy industry,” Transfield managing director Peter Goode said.

“They also demonstrate the company’s engineering and construction capabilities, which form part of our whole-of-life asset management offering.”

Transfield shares were up 2.5 per cent at 10:10AM, WST, trading at $1.79.
