THE State Government has boosted its contribution to the tourism industry in the wake of the collapse of Ansett and the recent attacks on the United States.
Following a tourism crisis meeting convened by the Western Australian Tourism Commission and the Tourism Council of Western Australia, the Government announced a reduction in advertising rates in conjunction with a new statewide holiday and travel catalogue.
The package will target Western Australians, as 77 per cent of all tourists within WA are intrastate rather travellers. Expected to generate $100 million for the State’s tourism operators, the catalogue is a further addition to the State’s $5 million tourism promotion and marketing package announced last week.
