Top businesses recognised

FOUR Western Australian companies have been recognised for their contribution to the state through international business at this year’s International Business Council of WA awards. Founders of website design company FX Digital Pty Ltd, Steve Cartwright and Julie Smyth, won the home business award, having established a successful home-based business with an international client list. The company, which also performs search engine optimisation and website hosting services, has recently secured contracts in Iraq and Kuwait. Mining technology provider Scanalyse Pty Ltd chief executive officer, Peter Clarke, was awarded the new business prize, having orchestrated the company’s rapid growth during the past year. Scanalyse has exported its business model and patented 3D laser scanning technology, used to measure wear inside grinding mills, globally. Shane Attwell, founder of Nedlands-based software developer ISS Group Ltd, won the international business award for his company, which started in a single office and now has a presence in Singapore, Houston and Southampton, as well as Sydney and Adelaide. ISS Group, which provides software applications to the resources sector, has a client list including Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Woodside and BP. Safety training provider Marine & Offshore Group Pty Ltd founder, Rick Parish, won the president’s award of distinction. The company, established in 1997, services the oil and gas industry and has nine training centres on six continents, with an annual global managed turnover of about $25 million. The awards have been presented annually since 1996.
