AUSTRALIAN construction and engineering company Thiess Pty Ltd has been awarded a $20 million civil construction contract for the fourth Liquefied Natural Gas train on the Burrup Peninsula in the Pilbara.
The expansion project will involve the construction of the LNG processing train, with a capacity of 4.2 million tonnes of LNG a year. A 42-inch diameter pipeline connecting the plant and the Venture’s gas fields also is expected to be constructed. First LNG production from the new LNG train is scheduled for mid-2004.
