The Lighter Note

Turn it up to 11

Those who are sceptical about the long-promised development of Perth’s CBD waterfront should take heart from news that the Committee for Perth has latched onto the concept and hopes to rev it up in the New Year.

From what The Note understands, the committee wants to do a virtua l or mock-up of what could take place in a bid to show the burghers of Perth what they might get.

Now, before you think Spinal Tap’s version of Stonehenge, rest assured that if such a display takes place the CommPerth people plan to make it big and active enough to get people excited.

To do so, though, they need support, of course, which is why they are seeking to get 500 of the right people committed to attending a big dinner event – dubbed Passion for Perth – on the foreshore on March 31 to see their showcase on how this development will help our fair city.

From the prosaic to poetry

Pundits of strategic analysis might have come across former Perth boy Greg Copley through his work with think tank, Future Directions International.

Mr Copley was back in WA last week to launch an autobiography, of sorts, reflecting on some of the events of his life and thoughts gleaned through travel amid a barrage of poetry.

This is a distinct change of direction for the prolific author of more prosaic literature such as the Defense & Foreign Affairs Handbook, which has been published since 1976. Mr Copley has, apparently, also written a few classified papers, which The Note presumes we won’t see unless they’re unearthed by Wikileaks.
