The Bakery building up for sale

Commercial real estate agency Burgess Rawson has been appointed to sell the building that houses live music venue, The Bakery.

The James Street venue, which is managed by Fringe World Festival organiser Artrage, is leased until March next year.

Artrage chief executive Marcus Canning said he was pleased the lease would continue through next year's Fringe World, and he hoped a new owner would consider extending it into the future.

“The Bakery team is putting all its efforts into creating a top notch program that will take us through to Fringe World 2015,” Mr Canning said.

“Who knows, if the right party purchases the property, then there's potential the venue will continue past this point.

“I encourage interested parties to contact the sales agent and I encourage punters who've loved The Bakery over the last decade to make sure they make the most of it over the coming months.”

The venue has been in operation since 2002 as a live performance and exhibition space.
