The Illuminated Boat Procession Date: October 2-8 2006 Venue: Mekong River, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom This festival was originally aimed at paying respect to the Lord Buddha, and the competition of the illuminated boat processions was organised to add colour to the event. The illuminated boats lined up in the middle of the Mekong River create a spectacular sight. Royal Flora Ratchaphruek Date: November 1 2006 to January 31 2007 Venue: The Royal Agricultural Research Centre, Chiang Mai Thailand will host the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, an International Horticulture Exposition in Chiang Mai in the grand celebration of HM the Kings Diamond Jubilee on the throne, also the occasion of the 80th birthday of His Majesty.
