LONG-awaited amendments to the Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops) Agreements Act have come into effect.
The amendments originated from a statutory review of the Act in 1991 by the Small Business Development Corpora-tion involving extensive stakeholder consultation.
SBDC managing director George Etrelezis said the amendments addressed a number of areas and should help foster better working relationships between retailers and landlords. Most of the amendments will apply to leases entered into after 1 July.
