Tempo Australia has won a construction services contract with Laing O’Rourke Australia at Rio Tinto’s Cape Lambert port expansion project.

Tempo said it would provide construction services on Laing O’Rourke’s structural, mechanical and piping works package on the Cape Lambert port B project.

The contract is expected to run through to the end of May.

Commercial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Tempo is very pleased with the award of this important contract,” managing director Dick Wright said.

“We greatly appreciate the confidence shown by Laing O’Rourke in the ability of Tempo to deliver construction services for such an important project.”

The contract win follows the appointment last year of former Macmahon boss Nick Bowen as Tempo's executive chairman.

At close of trade today, Tempo shares were up 1.1 per cent, trading at 8.9 cents.
