Perth-based Talison Lithium has finalised a $1.1 billion contract with Macmahon Holdings for services at the Greenbushes lithium project.

The global lithium producer awarded the finalised contract to ASX-listed Macmahon for open-cut mining activities of load and haul and crusher-feed services.

Macmahon received a notice for the contract in November 2022.

The $1.1bn worth of work is set to begin in July for a period of seven years, with the option for a two-year extension.

Talison’s Greenbushes lithium project is considered to be one of the largest hard rock lithium mines in the world, located 250 kilometres south of Perth.

Macmahon chief executive Michael Finnegan said he was delighted to finalise this contract with Talison Lithium for its Greenbushes lithium project.

“This contract will add approximately $1.1 billion to our order book, which delivers on our commodity diversification strategy into future relevant commodities,” he said.

“We have built a strong relationship with the Talison Lithium team and look forward to developing this project with them.”
