THE LIGHTER NOTE Career calling

DOWN here at Noteville we like a business leader who can always see a silver lining, even as the dark clouds of global turmoil continue to roll across our once bright blue corporate skies. So we were pleased to hear Wesfarmers chief Richard Goyder (pictured) finds some glimmer of hope from the current turmoil – the fact that those seeking new careers may be less likely to lured away from what might be considered a greater calling. “We’ll educate more teachers, doctors and nurses and have less people in structured finance,” Mr Goyder said. “There is more value in that.” And that’s from a bloke who has a roll over of $8 billion in debt in the next two years. Touché, Richard, but where was the bit about more journalists?
