Strategic Marine has won a contract to build two 40-metre crew boats for Malaysia’s Syarikat Borcos Shipping.

The hulls for the boats will be constructed in Vietnam, and the vessels will be completed at Strategic’s Singapore shipyard.

Marketing manager Terry O’Connor said the contract further established Strategic as a market leader in the manufacture of crew boats.

““Our ability to construct hulls in Vietnam and complete them at our Singapore shipyard has provided the market with an extremely competitive option in purchasing new crew boats, during such a challenging period in the market,” Mr O’Connor said.

“Strategic Marine has now delivered 35 vessels into the South East Asia region over the past five years, the majority of which are servicing the local offshore oil and gas sector.”

Syarikat Borcos now has 11 Strategic Marine crew boats in its fleet, with the first delivered in 2005.

Borcos will use the boats to transport oil rig personnel and cargo to its operations off the Malaysian coast.
