Stokes and Gammell officially on-board

Seven Network Ltd's chairman Kerry Stokes and his right-hand man Peter Gammell, have been officially appointed to West Australian Newspaper Holdings Ltd's board.

It's been nine days since WAN reluctantly agreed to the appointment of Mr Stokes and Mr Gammel, which was largely due to the broadcaster's majority shareholding in the newspaper publisher.

This came just five months after WAN shareholders voted against Seven's call to replace almost all the members of the WAN board in order to install Mr Stokes and Mr Gammell.

WAN previously had six directors - that number is now up to eight - comprised of five independent directors, two Seven representatives, and managing director Ken Steinke.

WAN plans to appoint another independent non-executive director, taking its board numbers to nine.
