St Hilda's appoints new principal for 2019

St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls has appointed the current head of the Australian International School in Singapore, Fiona Johnston, as its new principal for 2019.

Ms Johnston will replace Kim Kiepe, who is set to join Somerville House in Brisbane next year.

Ms Johnston is currently AIS head of secondary school, with responsibility for about 1,200 Singapore-based students from years six to 12.

St Hilda council chair Nita Peploe said Ms Johnston would bring a dynamic leadership style.

“The council has absolute confidence that we have secured a leader of the highest quality for our school who will help to drive and guide the changes that will be required during the next decade as all forms of education continue to evolve rapidly as a result of technology and the changing needs of our society,” she said.

“Fiona successfully combines a busy career and family life, and she is the right leader to ensure that St Hilda’s remains a pre-eminent girls’ school in Western Australia as we continue preparing girls for the future.

“Fiona has a clear vision that education must be about personal growth and wellbeing at all levels, with each individual being given the opportunity to specialise in those areas where their talents and interests lie.”

Originally from Brisbane, Ms Johnston completed her tertiary qualifications in Queensland and Victoria.

She taught in the UK and in Queensland – including at Stuartholme School and the Anglican Church Grammar School – prior to commencing at the Australian International School in 2012.
