THE Nexus 2007 South West Open is the region’s longest running open golf championship tournament and will take place this year between May 31 and June 4. More than 140 players have already entered the competition. The event has previously attracted the likes of Craig Perry and Greg Chalmers, who now play in the US. The open will start on Thursday May 31 with a ‘sportsman’s dinner’ hosted by cricketing legend David Boon, while the invitation-only pro-am will take place on June 1. It is a 54-hole stroke event with tee off in the morning and the afternoon, and there is a $25,000 purse is to be won. There is free public access to the event. Tickets to the David Boon dinner cost $65 per person.
