A six-storey apartment complex in South Hedland is on track to be built within eight days, 20 per cent faster than originally estimated by modular builders Hickory Group.

Hickory uses prefabricated materials manufactured in Melbourne to construct buildings, including five apartment buildings erected in the Pilbara last year.

The South Hedland 77 apartment complex called Concorde South began construction on May 5.

A Hickory spokeswoman said the project was likely to be finished on Monday May 12, and it anticipated the same swift rate of installation for its next project, in Perth.

In July, Hickory will provide construction modules for a similar sized affordable housing project in Cockburn Central called Adara, part of the larger Stella Apartments development.

Goodland Building Company, which is building Stella Apartments, has subcontracted Hickory to supply modules for a six-storey, 77-apartment complex.
