A COMPANY is offering to organise conventions and meetings – for free.
Conference Venue Advisors’ Michael Hewitt said his company was a corporate booking and advisory service.
It takes a commission from the venue into which it books the convention.
Mr Hewitt said the company had been running for three years and was “really starting to emerge now”.
He and his partner came from the eastern States to offer the service in WA.
“We currently have no competition here,” Mr Hewitt said.
“We’ve organised conferences for BankWest and Woodside and do a lot of work for Telstra.”
Mr Hewitt said his company could organise a conference from beginning to end.
“It’s about outsourcing. Many people in organisations don’t have experience in organising conferences. We do because that’s what we do,” he said.
Mr Hewitt said his company took into account the sort of event the client was trying to organise, the clients who were attending and so on.
“We have to get it right if we want repeat business,” he said.
Once a client’s needs are established, the company produces a short-list – usually of three venues.
The company has fact sheets on most venues around Australia, including some many people have not considered.
The company can organise conferences Australia-wide and is expanding to take on bigger conferences.
“The way we handle big conferences is very similar,” Mr Hewitt said.
“There are just more delegates involved.”
Mr Hewitt said he had good contacts to promote South East Asian incentive destinations because they were more cost effective and had no GST concerns attached.
“That’s part of the reason we moved here, so we could work the timezones,” he said.
