A DRAFT report has been released that examines the possibility of establishing a single statutory management authority to administer Western Australia’s fisheries.
The report, prepared by a three-member independent advisory group, is available for public comment until February 20.
In 2001 the Government’s Machinery of Government Taskforce recommended merging Fisheries WA with another Government body.
The independent advisory group members are Joe Berinson, Murray Jorgenson and Zelko Lendich.
Copies of the draft report are available from www.fish.wa.gov.au or by phoning 9482 7355.
Written submissions should be directed to Heather Brayford, Executive Officer, Statutory Management Authority Advisory Committee, Locked Bag No. 39, Cloisters Square Post Office, Perth WA 6850.
