Home care provider Silverchain and pathology services company Australian Clinical Labs have inked a partnership to launch an at-home testing service.

The ‘priority at-home service’ will enable eligible clients who are unable to attend in-person clinics due to illness, disability, mobility or other constraints to have pathology testing done at home.

The initiative will initially be made accessible for Silverchain’s eligible Western Australian clients before launching nationally.

Silverchain WA executive director Renae Lavell said the pathology at-home service would help improve access for clients.

“This new sevice will provide an enhanced pathology service to our clients that will streamline the testing process as well as how results are reviewed,” she said.

“The collaboration between ACL and Silverchain will mean improved access and efficiency that will ultimately improve health outcomes for patients.

“We know it can be difficult for some of our patients to attend a pathology clinic, so this will improve our service to them and ensure we have up-to-date information on their pathology results.”

Australian Clinical Labs (ACL) is a major private pathology services company, with 73 laboratories running across the country.

Australian Clinical Labs WA chief executive Shae Seymour said the initiative would allow results to be easily accessible to Silverchain through ACL’s e-viewer, rather than a clinician having to wait for correspondence from the provider or call multiple providers to try to track down results.

“The benefits of the process include greater efficiencies, while more readily accessible results means smoother and safer client care,” she said.
