Silver Thomas Hanley takes lead hospital role

ARCHITECTURE firm Silver Thomas Hanley has been appointed to lead the design team for the $234 million redevelopment of St John of God Hospital in Murdoch.

The project will be managed by Project Directors Australia.

Other members of the design team include: BPA Engineering; Engineering Technology Consultants; SMW&C; SPP Group; Ian Lush; Wood & Grieve Engineers; and Rider Levett Bucknall.

Director of hospital redevelopment Dean Lavers said the appointment of the design team was a major step.

“A thorough tender process identified the design team that we are confident will provide the hospital with the best mix of skills and experience,” he said.

St John of God Healthcare is investing $234 million at its Murdoch Hospital, increasing capacity from 363 to 522 beds.

Meanwhile, the state government has appointed Cox Howlett & Bailey Woodland to design the $52 million Police and Justice complex in Carnarvon.

The complex is a collaborative project between five state government agencies with the support of the local government and community, Attorney-General Christian Porter said.

The building will accommodate courts, tribunals and registry, a community justice service centre, a police station and a shared custody facility.

Cox Howlett & Bailey Woodland will partner Paterson Group Architects, which has a permanent office in Carnarvon.

The government last year approved a $52.5 million budget allocation for the project, comprising $43 million from capital funds and $9.5million from the Royalties for Regions Gascoyne Revitalisation Fund.
