Sign of the times

EVEN in these economically unstable times, there’s no excuse not to continue to eat out. Subiaco’s Bistro Felix (pictured) has launched a ‘concession recession menu’, offering two courses for $49 or three courses for $55, for lunch or dinner from Monday to Friday. The money-conscious can also pop around the corner to Pure Bar on Hay Street, which is offering $10 cocktails on ‘recession Thursday.’ The moves have already received national attention, making the front page of a national weekend newspaper, and could be a sign of things to come. New ABS stats show spending at cafes and restaurants recorded the weakest annual growth rate in 25 years, while spending on takeaway food was on the up.
