Shift offers new opportunities

MANY companies are taking the opportunity to buy new office furniture for their premises when they relocate.

Julie Hopkins, of office supplier Mike Hopkins, said a number of businesses now had office furniture custom made.

“They come to us with office plans and we make furniture to fit,” Ms Hopkins said.

“We tell them what materials and finishes are available.”

Ms Hopkins said office spaces were generally smaller than they had been.

“Furniture today is ergonomically designed so a person can access everything they need virtually without having to leave his or her chair,” she said.

“The advent of computers has meant some changes in furniture as well.

“We encourage people to think about their needs and build the furniture to suit.”

J&K Hopkins’ Manny Kumar said, while his company was not involved in corporate relocation, it could deliver furniture to new premises.

“We can also make custom furniture for our clients,” Mr Kumar said.

“We can either deliver the furniture to the client in component form and assemble it on site or deliver it as finished pieces.”
