Shaving time again

IT’S time for a shave Australia, at least that’s the message the Leukaemia Foundation is striving to get out as it girds for its World’s Greatest Shave to Care and Cure event for 2005.

The foundation aims to set a record for the most heads shaved in a 24-hour period.

The World’s Greatest Shave will be held from March 10 to 12 and hopes to attract up to 60,000 people.

Those not preferred to face the clippers can opt, instead, to have their hair coloured.

Last year Corruption and Crime Commission general counsel Patti Chong raised $105,000 for the cause in WA by shaving her wild hair not just once but twice.

Funds raised through the event will assist the foundation improve patients’ and families’ quality of life through personalised and practical care.

This includes a “home away from home” in the foundation’s accommodation centres, support services, counselling, educational programs, transport and practical assistance free of charge.

Some funds will also go towards research into better treatments and cures.
