Educational software provider SEQTA has capped a remarkable year of growth, being named the Business News Rising Stars award winner for 2015.

Seqta has developed a suite of software designed to free teachers up from time consuming administrative tasks and allow them to do what they’re employed to do – teach.

The web-based software also allows teachers to effectively communicate and collaborate with parents and students on day-to-day tasks, such as assignments and homework, while it also streamlines reporting, absentee and permissions administration.

This year is the 12th instalment of Rising Stars, which recognise the achievements of the state’s fastest growing, privately owned companies.

The Rising Stars are judged across a number of metrics, including revenue and staff growth, as well as capability and commitment.

While headline numbers are taken into account, firms also need to show a solid growth strategy and commitment to continued growth to become a Rising Stars finalist.

Other firms shortlisted in 2015 were safety gloves manufacturer Performance on Hand, marine services group TAMS Group (for its second year in a row), and ship delivery, management and training firm International Maritime Services.

The remaining firms rounding out the top 10 were play equipment manufacturer Funky Monkey Bars, human resources group Harrier Human Capital, engineering design company PDC BIM, financial services firms Proactiv Payroll and Integro Private Financial Consulting, and solar panel supplier Sun Connect.

TAMS Group was named the 2015 Rising Stars People’s Choice.

The first winner of Rising Stars in 2003 was advertising agency Gatecrasher, while past winners have included IT groups Datacom and Empired, as well as Geraldton’s Bhagwan Marine and engineering firms Velocious and Calibre Global
