International makeup brand Sephora is set to open a store in Perth CBD, after Primewest negotiated a leasing deal on Murray Street.

The makeup giant is preparing to open an outlet in Forrest Place at 242 Murray Street Mall which will be its second West Australian shopfront.

The global beauty group opened its first Western Australian shop in the newly developed Karrinyup shopping centre in October last year, which marked its 24th store in Australia and New Zealand.

Hundreds of people lined up outside the shop as it opened on October 7, with store giveaways offered to customers.

Ahead of the opening, Sephora ran a pop-up ice-cream van at Scarborough Beach, where it provided beauty touch-ups and samples.

Sephora received approval on May 30 to change the classification of the space to retail and fit-out the store with Sephora signage.

A City of Perth document shows further approval for works on the ground floor at 242 Murray Street Mall was obtained last month.

Primewest negotiated a leasing deal on the site, next to the City Beach surf shop in the old Commonwealth Bank building.

Founded in Paris in 1970, Sephora stocks more than 300 brands including its own label.

It opened its first Australian store in Sydney in 2015.

Its Karrinyup store features a beauty studio and skincare bar, where customers can have personal consultations.

An opening date has not yet been confirmed.
