Southern Cross Electrical Engineering has won a $70 million electrical and instrumentation works contract from CITIC Pacific for its Sino Iron project at Cape Preston, adding to a $10 million job won two weeks ago.

The assignment is scheduled to begin in September and covers installation and commissioning of E & I works cross four process lines.

Managing director Simon High said Sino Iron would be a key project for SCEE

“I am extremely pleased that we have been able to secure this additional work, having identified Sino Iron as a core project for SCEE over the next two years,’’ he said.

“The addition of approximately $80 million of new work provides a timely boost to our already strong order book as we move into financial year 2015.

“SCEE looks forward to starting work on the project and continuing to build our relationship with CITIC Pacific.”

The contract is in addition to a recent $10 million sub-contract awarded through Kerman Contracting for installation, testing and commissioning of E & I works at CITIC.

SCEE has also won two large contracts at Sino Iron for structural, mechanical and electrical work of $146 million and civil and concrete works of $54 million.
