The new owner of Pinetec's pallet making division is expected to centralise the pallet business from Collie to Bassendean and will look to recruit in the next few months.

Melbourne-headquartered Rodpak was unveiled earlier this week as the buyer of Pinetec's pallet manufacturing business, which is located both in Collie and Bassendean.

The Collie operations also include a sawmill, with receivers PricewaterhouseCooper's still looking for a buyer.

A Rodpak spokesperson told WA Business News that the company is likely to move the pallet making equipment in Collie to Bassendean with no overall reduction in staff expected.

He said there were around 10 pallet manufacturing employees working in Collie, who will have the opportunity to relocate to Bassendean should they wish to do so.

He added that Rodpak is looking to recruit, from Western Australia, a management team for the pallet making business.

The Pinetec brand is also expected to be retained.

The spokesperson said any definitive decisions will be made in the coming months.

The sale agreement between Pwc and Rodpak is expected to be finalised this week.
