Recruitment challenge

THOSE among us who think recruitment is a hassle should spare a thought for what it must be like for recruitment agencies to recruit their own staff.

One recently established local agency believes it is about to pioneer the recruit-to-recruit market in Perth.

Intercruit is a recruitment service specifically targeting WA recruitment agencies.

Recently moving to WA from the UK, Sean O’Brien was the managing director of Draefern, a large UK employment agency with 120 staff and an annual turnover of between $85 million and $90 million.

Mr O’Brien says recruiting for a recruitment agency is a relatively new concept to Australia, only taking off in the UK about five years ago.

“It is a great opportunity to provide a service to the WA recruitment industry, which is very buoyant here,” Mr O’Brien said.

He said getting key staff was always a challenge, but to recruit the recruitment staff, agencies had to be that extra bit switched on.

Intercruit set up in the city last month but has only become operational in the past two weeks.
