Quickflix completes integration of Homescreen

Monday, 20th February 2006: ASX-listed online home entertainment company Quickflix today announced that it has successfully integrated the subscriber bases of Homescreen and Quickflix to operate from the one technology platform. The integration has taken just under 10 weeks to achieve.

Quickflix acquired Homescreen in December last year to create the leading independent online DVD rental subscription player in Australia and major competitor to Telstra BigPond Movies.

The 9,000-strong combined subscriber base will now operate on Quickflix's state-of-the-art consumer technology platform. The Quickflix platform was last year awarded best platform technology solution in the Microsoft Australia and New Zealand awards and rated as one of the preferred services by CHOICE magazine.

From today, Homescreen subscribers will be accessing the Quickflix service while continuing to use their familiar personal service features like the "Queue" or playlist of movie titles, account information and personal ratings information (which drives the proprietary algorithm for personalising recommendations).

The Homescreen service (www.homescreen.com.au) will redirect new subscribers to the Quickflix service.

Commenting on the milestone, Quickflix CEO Stephen Langsford said "Our technology, fulfilment and customer service teams have worked rapidly to create a seamless transition for Homescreen subscribers to the new improved platform. We're now operating a single brand, single subscriber base and single library across a national network of distribution centres. Quickflix is offering over 19,000 latest releases to classic mainstream and independent titles to the 60% of Australian households which own a DVD player and have access to the internet.

"Our online DVD rental service is taking off because it's simple to use. We have already shipped over one million DVDs to households all across Australia since commencing. We're offering far superior choice, convenience and value over traditional video stores. We're working to also create the most compelling online destination and community for movies, TV and games and the ultimate choice of subscription or purchase, mail delivery or download," Langsford said.
