Poseidon Nickel has announced that it could recommence nickel mining at the Mt Windarra site in the north eastern goldfields of Western Australia by June 2013.

The company said that premier Colin Barnett indicated conditional approval of it’s application to recommence mining, which was reviewed by the Department of State Development.

The proposal includes recommencement of nickel mining at the Mount Windarra underground mine and commencement of mining at the new Cerberus ore body located on the same tenement.

The proposal also included the construction of a nickel flotation concentrator capable of a minimum throughput of 700,000 tonnes of ore a year.

The Government still needs to give a final formal approval to the project, subject to Poseidon demonstrating it has project financing and off-take contracts in place.

Poseidon shares closed 4.46 per cent higher on the ASX today, currently sitting at 11 cents.
