Perth has time for new vision

PERTH is in the unique situation of being able to determine what gives the city its character and to plan to enhance this image, says Planning Minister Graham Kierath.

“We can move away from the CBD and the surrounding urban sprawl. We can transform the city centre from a concrete canyon that is a ghost town on Sunday afternoons to a vibrant community where people live, relax and spend their leisure,” Mr Kierath said at the Inner City Housing Development Association annual general meeting.

“We all hear people say how lucky we are to live in Perth. They are, of course, right. We are lucky to have this lifestyle. Lucky, because we are yet to take full advantage of it,” he said.
