CPS Capital managing director Jason Peterson is seeking damages from Fairfax Media over an article published by the national news group that he claims is defamatory.

That’s according to a writ lodged in the Supreme Court by St Georges Terrace firm Bennett last week, with plaintiff Jason Willian Gould Peterson naming Fairfax Media Publications as a party to the action.

The claims rely on the alleged online and print publications of an article that appeared in the Australian Financial Review, as well as a social media post by a journalist containing a link to the publication.

The plaintiff, Mr Peterson, is the managing director and head of corporate for Perth stockbroker and corporate advisory business, CPS Capital Group.

He claims to have suffered loss and damage as a result of the publications and is seeking damages -  including aggravated damages – and to have the article scrubbed from the internet.

Mr Peterson also wants an injunction preventing Fairfax from publishing the same or similar words concerning the plaintiff, as well as costs.
