A major figure in the local building industry has been elected the 2016 national president of Master Builders Association.

Dan Perkins, who also leads his Bunbury-founded commercial contracting company Perkins Builders, has taken the national role after serving as deputy national president for two years.

Mr Perkins is also a former president of Master Builders’ WA division, and has sat on the association’s board since 2003.

“In his new role, Mr Perkins will carry forward the strategic priorities of the Master Builders national board in future-proofing Master Builders to meet the needs of its members and the industry over the next decade,” the association said in a statement.

“A key priority will be refining the current apprenticeship system to deliver better outcomes for both builders and apprentices.

“Having commenced his career as an apprentice carpenter, Mr Perkins is well placed to provide national leadership in how the industry can better manage its workforce development.”

Mr PerkinsPerkins Builders has grown from a Bunbury-based contractor to one of the state’s major commercial builders.

It’s ranked in BNiQ as WA’s 25th biggest private company by revenue.
