PPP confirmed for new Midland hospital

Health Minister Kim Hames has confirmed that the new $360 million Midland Health Campus will be a private public partnership, similar to the model at Joondalup hospital.

Earlier this year, the state government was looking into the PPP for Midland, which will be one of the bigger health campuses in WA with about 400 beds.

Yesterday, Dr Hames said state cabinet had already approved the PPP option and he had received confirmation from the federal government to proceed down that path.

The health campus will be funded equally by the state and federal governments.

Dr Hames said that he had to provide a guarantee to the federal government that no employees at the current Midland Hospital will lose their jobs when the new health campus is up and running.

The Joondalup Health Campus is a PPP with Ramsay Health, which manages the hospital.
