WESTERN Metals Ltd has appointed Peter Smith as non-executive chairman, George Bauk as managing director and Geoff Chapman as executive director. The appointments follow the resignations of Western Metal’s current board comprising David Steinepreis, Gary Steinepreis and Paul Hearne. Mr Smith is currently general manager development with Ensham Resources and has previously held senior management positions with Kaltim Prima Coal, WMC Resources, ARCO and RioTinto. Mr Bauk was previously chief financial officer and business development manager for Arafura Resources NL and has held a number of senior positions including CFO for View Resources Ltd. Mr Chapman has held a range of senior roles including geology manager for OM Holdings, chief geologist for View Resources and senior geologist and geology manager positions at WMC Resources.
