Forrest succeeds Elliott at FMG

Andrew Forrest has retired from his role as chief executive officer at iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group, and will succeed Herb Elliott as chairman of the company. Mr Forrest started FMG eight years ago and was the inaugural chairman before handing over the role in 2005. Mr Elliot will now become lead independent director in the role of deputy non-executive chairman. Chief operating officer Nev Power has been appointed as the new chief executive. Mr Power was previously chief executive Australian operations at Thiess.

Dunn joins Leighton Contractors

Construction company Leighton Contractors has appointed Graeme Dunn as general manager, construction – western region. Mr Dunn is based in the West Perth office and is responsible for the construction business across WA, including existing contracts held with Chevron, BHP Billiton, Alcoa Australia and Main Roads WA. Mr Dunn was previously executive general manager group services, associated businesses and major projects group at the Al Habtoor Leighton Group in Dubai.

Lavan Legal recruits Warnick

Lavan Legal has appointed Leigh Warnick as a partner, as foreshadowed in WA Business News in February. Mr Warnick was previously at Blake Dawson and is one of Australia’s most respected corporate lawyers, highlighted by his role as a lead adviser to BHP Billiton on its planned merger and iron ore joint venture with Rio Tinto in 2009-10.

King confirmed as Neptune CEO

Perth-based subsea engineering company Neptune Marine Services has appointed Robin King as chief executive officer. Mr King has been acting CEO from November last year and has almost 30 years experience in the international oil and gas industry. He was CEO of Technip Subsea 7 Asia Pacific before joining Neptune in 2010.
