Spence to chair $200m training fund

Former Woodside Petroleum executive Keith Spence has been appointed chairman of the $200 million federal government Critical Skills Investment Fund board, which aims to help address skills shortages in sectors including resources. Mr Spence is also chairman of the West Australian State Training Board and member of the Skills Australia Board.

WA exec business woman of the year

Perth executive Denise Goldsworthy was named Australian Business Woman of the Year at Telstra's 2010 awards held last week. Ms Goldsworthy is managing director of Rio Tinto’s subsidiary, Dampier Salt.

Jabiru exec joins Bauxite Resources

Scott Donaldson has been appointed chief executive of Bauxite Resources. Mr Donaldson was previously the chief operations officer of Jabiru Metals and prior to that held senior management positions with Consolidated Minerals, Tectonic Resources, Western Metals, Dominion Mining and Thiess Contractors.

Nomad chairman to retire early

The chairman of modular building company Nomad Building Solutions Richard Blair has decided to retire a year earlier than planned. The directors of Nomad announced that Peter Abery, who is currently a non-executive director of the company, will replace Mr Blair. Mr Abery previously held senior roles at HPM Industries, Crown Castle UK/National Grid Wireless, Crown Castle Australia, Vodafone Network, Telstra and QPSX Communications.

ECU vice-chancellor to stay until 2014

Edith Cowan University vice-chancellor Kerry Cox (pictured) has accepted a three-and-a-half year extension to his contract until September 2014. ECU Chancellor Hendy Cowan said Professor Cox had presided over a period of strong growth at ECU, both in student numbers and in the university’s engagement with the community.
