Spence chairman at Clough

Engineering and construction company Clough has appointed Keith Spence (pictured), current non-executive director, as chairman following the resignation of Mike Harding, effective October 2010. Mr Spence joined the board in 2008 following his retirement from Woodside where he held many roles including chief operating officer, acting chief executive officer and director – oil business unit. Chief financial officer Neil Siford will also join the board as an executive director.

Board reshuffle at Key Petroleum

Key Petroleum chairman Ted Ellyard (pictured) and non-executive director Richard O'Shannassy have agreed to resign after a group of shareholders requested a general meeting to restructure the company's board. The shareholders wanted Mr Ellyard, finance director Dennis Wilkins and Mr O'Shannassy removed from the board and replaced with two new directors Jitto Arulampalum and Frank Cannavo. However, the current board is pushing for Mr Wilkins to remain a director.

Freedman joins Carrick, Condor boards

Two Ian Burston-chaired explorers, Carrick Gold and Condor Nickel, have lured the founder of Sydney-based funds manager Equitilink, Laurence Freedman, to join their boards as a non-executive director. Mr Freedman was instrumental in the re-listing of Channel 10 in 1992 by backing it into Telecaster North Queensland in 1992.

Godbille, Vihersaari step up

Australian advanced materials company Quickstep Holdings has appointed Sebastien Godbille (far right) as general manager of Quickstep process systems and Ari Vihersaari as vice-president of global business development. Mr Godbille joins Quickstep following three years as chief executive officer of Daher Australian Aerospace, a joint venture between French company Daher and Australian Aerospace. Before joining Quickstep, Mr Vihersaari was the chief development officer of the venture capital fund management company GloCal Systems Management, based in Athens.

Doran joins AECOM

AECOM has appointed John Doran to the role of asset management lead in its Perth office. Mr Doran’s previous roles include asset manager at the Water Corporation and executive manager at Rand Water in South Africa.

Jackson McDonald grows partnership

Local law firm Jackson McDonald has expanded its partnership with the appointment of four new partners. Eva Lin (top right) and Karene Primrose have been promoted to partner in the commercial litigation team, while Rob Marando (bottom right) has been appointed a partner in the insurance team. All three joined Jackson McDonald as articled clerks. Simon Moen has been recruited to the firm as a partner in the property team. Mr Moen was previously a senior associate at a national law firm.

Molony litigation head

IRDI Legal has appointed Damian Molony to head up its commercial litigation team. Mr Molony, previously of Maxim Litigation Consultants, brings many years of commercial litigation experience both in WA and internationally as an associate at Stites & Harbison in the US.

Hayward’s Extend role

Extend Technologies has appointed Ian Hayward as branch manager for its WA operations based in Perth. Mr Hayward joins Extend Technologies, a NTT DATA company, from its sister company, itelligence, where he held the position of managing director of its UK subsidiary.

McNamara, Thomas Lifestyle choice

National Lifestyle Villages has appointed Michael McNamara (far right) as general manager sales and marketing, and Gareth Thomas, general manager village services. Mr McNamara was previously general manager of media monitoring company Rehame, while Mr Thomas was previously director of operations for the Seashells Hospitality group.

Walkemeyer operates at GHD

GHD has appointed Craig Walkemeyer as operations group manager – energy and resources. Mr Walkemeyer was previously director of projects, Australia and Asia with Alcoa. He has also held senior roles with Hatch, Kaiser Engineering and BHP.

Walsh president of Scouts WA

Rio Tinto Iron Ore chief executive Sam Walsh has joined Scouts WA as the branch’s new president. Mr Walsh takes over the role of branch president from David Malcolm who has stepped down after serving in the role for nine years.

Coote PCB promotion

The Perth Convention Bureau has promoted Kara Coote to the position of business development manager – corporate. Ms Coote, who has been with the bureau for six years, started as a research assistant.

Zeptner Mundo Minerals COO

Mundo Minerals has appointed Mark Zeptner as chief operating officer, replacing Andrew Law who has resigned for personal reasons. Mr Zeptner is currently working as head of projects and technology with Gold Fields in Australia.

Sheedy’s artistic direction

Barking Gecko Theatre Company has appointed John Sheedy as artistic director. Mr Sheedy has worked with some of Australia’s most respected theatre companies such as Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Theatre Company, Company B Belvoir and Black Swan State Theatre Company.
