Former state Liberal leader Paul Omodei has announced he is retiring from politics after a parliamentary career spanning 20 years.
Mr Omodei, who was dumped from the leadership position late last year, said he would seek opportunities within the corporate sector.
In May this year Mr Omodei was sacked from the Liberal Party shadow cabinet for making "unacceptable" comments about then opposition leader Troy Buswell.
Mr Omodei had threatened to run as an Independent at the coming state election.
