Olympics captioned

Tuesday, 11 July, 2000 - 22:00
SEVEN Network and Telstra have announced they will provide the most closed captioning ever seen on Australian television during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Closed captioning, the provision of subtitles live to air for the benefit of the hearing impaired community with access to Super Text, will be available during Seven’s Olympic coverage from 6:00am to 11:00pm each day.

Seven was the first broadcaster in Australia to caption a live sporting event when it covered the AFL Grand Final in 1998. It is the only commercial network in Australia to caption its news and current affairs live across all Australian time zones, and has established captioning centres in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.
