O'Reilly to chair Vector Resources

A former director of the Minerals Council of Australia, Damien O'Reilly, has been appointed non-executive chairman of Vector Resources.

Mr O'Reilly also worked as an executive council member of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy Western Australia.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Vector said Mr O'Reilly comes to the position with over 20 years of high-level experience within the resources sector.

He previously held the position of president of Downer EDI Western Region.

"The board of Vector Resources believes the appointment of Mr O'Reilly will be a key milestone in the development of the Company into a sustainable mid-tier gold producer in the near term," the statement said.

Emerging Western Australian focussed gold company Vector Resources Limited (ASX VEC) ("Vector" or "the Company") has made a significant appointment to its board, with Mr Damien O'Reilly appointed Non-Executive Chairman.

Mr O'Reilly has more than 20 years of high-level experience within the resources sector and has held key executive positions with two of Australia's leading industry bodies, the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA), where he was a Director, and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy Western Australia, where he was an Executive Council Member for the past 4 years. During his tenure as a director of the Minerals Council of Australia, Mr O'Reilly also chaired the MCA OHS National Standing Committee for two years.

He has worked for 13 years in the PRC and Hong Kong, developing hard rock quarries, rehabilitation works, including major civil and infrastructure projects. Mr O'Reilly has also been engaged in the establishment of over 100 mines in Australia, across the minerals spectrum. In his various roles he has also undertaken project work in North Africa, the United States, China and Canada.

Mr O'Reilly held the position of President of Downer EDI Western Region, and Director of a number of Downer Group wholly owned subsidiaries. Prior to this, he held the position of CEO of Roche/Downer EDI Mining.

Before joining Downer EDI Mr O'Reilly was General Manager Open Cut Mining for six years with Macmahon Contractors and for the four years prior to that held a similar position with Henry Walker Eltin Ltd. He has also had senior positions with CSR Minerals Division and CSR / Kwah International.

Mr O'Reilly holds a BA (Hons 1st Class) from the University of Adelaide South Australia and a MSc Mineral Economics from the Western Australia School of Mines. He has also completed the GSM / AIM / Harvard Joint Executive Development Programme.
He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (FAusIMM) a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying (FIQ).
