WESTERN Australian tourism industry stalwart Laurie O’Meara was recognised for his contribution to the industry at a national level, winning the outstanding contribution by an individual award at the 2008 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. Mr O’Meara has been the driving force and champion of the Australian tourism accreditation program, which provided consistency in service and the types of tourism products offered to visitors.
