Nova ends year on a high note

THE final radio ratings survey of 2004 has declared Nova the victor in the under 40 market and Mix 94.5 number one in the over 40s.

Nova 937 managing director Gary Roberts said survey eight produced the station’s best result of the year.

“We are thrilled,” he said.

“Our cumulative audience figures went up to 318,000 so we picked up an extra 20,000 listeners.

“We’re number one in our core demographic of 18 to 39. We’ve got a 19.8 share.”

Trailing Nova in the under 40 market is 96fm with 17.5 per cent and Austereo’s 92.9 is third with 16.4 per cent.

92.9 recorded a 4.5 percentage point share loss in the 18 to 24 demographic.

Mix 94.5 dropped slightly in its 40 to 54 demographic but was still a clear leader with 29.1 per cent of the market.

It is also number one for the 25 to 54 age demographic.

Rival 96fm gained 2.6 percentage points in the same demographic to account for 14.1 per cent.

96fm gained 1.1 percentage points in the 25 to 39 demographic taking it to within 0.3 percentage points of the lead, held by Mix 94.5 on 20.2 per cent.
