Not all are thrilled with freeway

THE MOST positive thing about the Northbridge Tunnel development is that it’s over, says Snap Printing Northbridge owner Ian Wood.

The company had adorned its windows with the words ‘We survived the tunnel!’.

Mr Wood said, for a six month period, the development almost killed his business.

“It had a dramatic impact on our business and roads around us were closed off with little prior notice,” Mr Wood said.

“However, I have been pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of Main Roads.

“They’ve answered every query and addressed any concern very quickly.

“They may have made some rash decisions in terms of the alignment of the road but they’ve done well considering time and money constraints.”

Mr Wood said, despite the inconvenience, he was delighted the development would lead to the overall improvement of the Northbridge area.

“It will be brilliant because the land above the tunnel has been neglected for years,” he said.
