Northern corridor developments

TWO major new housing developments have been launched in Perth’s rapidly growing north-west corridor.

Housing Minister Troy Buswell was on hand to turn the first sod at Brookfield Residential Properties’ Whiteman Edge development last week, a master-planned community that will provide more than 2,900 homes at Henley Brook, opposite Whiteman Park.

Brookfield Residential Properties managing director of communities, Anthony Rowbottam, said hundreds of people had already registered interest in Whiteman Edge.

A total of 22 hectares of the development area has been set aside for two primary schools, a secondary school, public open space and a large shopping centre.

Civil works for the first stage of Whiteman Edge will begin this month, and the public launch will follow in June.

The first stage will comprise 114 residential lots.

Meanwhile, development giant Mirvac has also unveiled its latest residential community, the $75 million, 285-lot Highland Reserve, at Jane Brook.

The estate will feature a mix of homesites, including 287 traditional blocks ranging from 435 square metres to 704sqm, and 63 bushland lots ranging from 2000sqm to 1.9ha.

Mirvac WA chief executive Evan Campbell said its proximity to Perth Airport would make it attractive to fly-in, fly-out workers.

Mirvac said it would plant around 3,500 plants in the nearby Susannah Valley nature reserve to offset the development's impact on Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo.

The blocks will range from 220 square metre terrace homes, 330sqm to 440sqm cottage and contemporary lots, and 600sqm premium home sites.
