The founder of the eponymous Ross North Group has been awarded the Master Builders Association’s Robert Law Award after nearly 50 years in the industry in Western Australia.

Ross North  came to WA in 1967, as a 25-year-old carpenter and proceeded to earn his builder’s registration ticket before establishing Ross North Homes in 1976.

Mr North subsequently established Complete Homes, which specialises in house-and-land packages, and specialist strata and multi-unit developer Ross North Developments.

The group was ranked the 11th largest home builder in WA in 2014-15 with 304 starts.

It has been awarded 32 MBA and Housing Industry Association awards including the ‘gold key’ and ‘people's choice’ awards.

Mr North told an MBA lunch today he had no intention of retiring from the industry, despite expressing some misgivings about the rules and regulations.

“I still enjoy the challenge of the building industry today, which has changed so much over the past 40 years,” he said.

Mr North also thanked his wife and children for their support, and was pleased to say that two of his boys were working with him in the business.
