Two taverns have been flagged in the City of Cockburn, with a $2.5 million Port Coogee site earmarked for one of the proposed venues.

Frasers Property Australia has sold 12 Calypso Parade for $2.5 million to a private investor who is proposing to build a modern tavern in North Coogee, within an area known as Port Coogee.

Commercial real estate agency Cygnet West brokered the transaction of the 2,543 square metre site, which settled yesterday.

Cygnet West retail sales director Tim Scott said the waterfront opportunity would boost tourism in the area.

“This purchase marks the 11th deal I have completed at Port Coogee in the last five years, highlighting the interest from the market,” he said.

“We can expect to see great developments in the coming years as the suburb builds out more.

“A new tavern will provide significant amenity for Port Coogee locals, as well as patrons seeking an oceanfront hospitality experience from broader Perth.”

Port Coogee is an area near the marina earmarked for density and residential growth, with 600 dwellings planned for the community.

The Trust Company (Australia) Ltd as trustee for Kahi Phoenix Trust is also proposing a tavern on the upper storey of Phoenix Shopping Centre, in Spearwood.

The proposed tavern on Rockingham Road, to be named the Nix, is estimated to cost $3.28 million.

According to the development application, the proposed tavern includes a 346-bay carpark, an open bar space, and play areas.

The developed area of the site covers about 6,005 square metres, the application said.
