Non-profit organisation celebrates new chair

Following Dr Patricia Kailis’ resignation as chair of Celebrate WA, Peter Fitzpatrick (pictured) has been elected her successor.

Mr Fitzpatrick is currently CEO of the Motor Trade Association of WA, a position which he has held since 1999. Prior to this, he owned and operated his own family business and was CEO of the Law Society of WA from 1985-1996.

Also a former career officer in the Australian regular army, including time with the SAS, Mr Fitzpatrick took early retirement in 1985 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He has worked as a consultant and business adviser, consulting to the Prime Minister and the Centenary of Federation Council.

Mr Fitzpatrick is currently a member of the Waste Advisory Council, Petroleum Products Advisory Committee, State Government Taskforce on State Taxation, Motorshow Management Committee WA and National Motor Industry Careers Advisory Committee. He is director of the Motor Industry Training Association Board and the Automotive Training Advisory Board.

Mr Fitzpatrick has also been appointed a member of the Order of Australia.
