Tim Shanahan has resigned from his position as chief executive of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia. He has been appointed to the University of Western Australia in the newly created position of director of Energy and Minerals Initiative. Mr Shanahan will provide strategic advice to UWA on energy and minerals related matters as well as leading the promotion and coordination of related teaching and research across the university, UWA vice-chancellor professor Alan Robson said. Mr Shanahan was assigned the role of chief executive of Chamber of Minerals and Energy in June 2001 and CME president David Smith said he helped build the CME into one of the nation’s most influential resource industry representative organisations.
